Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress King
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress King

Construction Helix Mattress King
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress King
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel right, you can always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress King
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress King
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
