Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Honest Review
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Honest Review

Construction Helix Mattress Honest Review
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Honest Review
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Honest Review
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Honest Review
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
