Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Google Reviews
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Google Reviews

Construction Helix Mattress Google Reviews
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Google Reviews
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you may always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Google Reviews
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Google Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
