Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Founder
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Founder

Construction Helix Mattress Founder
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Founder
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options seem quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Founder
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
