Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Forum
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Forum

Construction Helix Mattress Forum
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Forum
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models sound right, you could always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Forum
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Forum
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
