Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Dimensions
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Dimensions

Construction Helix Mattress Dimensions
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Dimensions
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Dimensions
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Dimensions
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
