Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Commercial
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Commercial

Construction Helix Mattress Commercial
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Commercial
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Commercial
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
