Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Ben
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Ben

Construction Helix Mattress Ben
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Ben
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem quite right, you could always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Ben
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Ben
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
