Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Luxury Hybrid
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Luxury Hybrid

Construction Helix Luxury Hybrid
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Luxury Hybrid
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options feel right, you could always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Luxury Hybrid
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Luxury Hybrid
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
