Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Luxe Mattress Review
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Luxe Mattress Review

Construction Helix Luxe Mattress Review
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Luxe Mattress Review
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options seem right, you may always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Luxe Mattress Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Luxe Mattress Review
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
