Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Louisville Ky
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Louisville Ky

Construction Helix Louisville Ky
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Louisville Ky
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you may always have a look at the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Louisville Ky
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Louisville Ky
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
