Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Linear Mosaic
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Linear Mosaic

Construction Helix Linear Mosaic
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Linear Mosaic
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you could always check out the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Linear Mosaic
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Linear Mosaic
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
