Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix King Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix King Mattress

Construction Helix King Mattress
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix King Mattress
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix King Mattress
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix King Mattress
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
