Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Jumpsuit Cmeo

Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Jumpsuit Cmeo

Construction Helix Jumpsuit Cmeo

All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Jumpsuit Cmeo

Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.

Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of those options sound right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Jumpsuit Cmeo

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

While you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Jumpsuit Cmeo

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
