Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Instructions
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Instructions

Construction Helix Instructions
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Instructions
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Instructions
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Instructions
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
