Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Hybrid
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Hybrid

Construction Helix Hybrid
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different models (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Hybrid
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options feel right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Hybrid
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Hybrid
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
