Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Glass Tile
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Glass Tile

Construction Helix Glass Tile
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Glass Tile
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models sound right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Glass Tile
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
