Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Factory
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Factory

Construction Helix Factory
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Factory
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options seem quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Factory
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Factory
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
