Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Dual Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Dual Mattress

Construction Helix Dual Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Dual Mattress
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Dual Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Dual Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
