Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Dreams
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Dreams

Construction Helix Dreams
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Dreams
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options sound right, you could always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Dreams
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Dreams
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
