Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Directions
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Directions

Construction Helix Directions
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Directions
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you could always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Directions
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Directions
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
