Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Deal

Construction Helix Deal
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Deal
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you may always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Deal
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Deal
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
