Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Corporate Office
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Corporate Office

Construction Helix Corporate Office
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Corporate Office
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options seem quite right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Corporate Office
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
