Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Commercial
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Commercial

Construction Helix Commercial
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Commercial
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Commercial
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
