Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Cal King Mattress
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Cal King Mattress

Construction Helix Cal King Mattress
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Cal King Mattress
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Cal King Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
