Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Brands
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Brands

Construction Helix Brands
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Brands
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models seem right, you could always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Brands
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Brands
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
