Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Beds
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Beds

Construction Helix Beds
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Beds
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel quite right, you can always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Beds
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Beds
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
