Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Beds Reviews
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Beds Reviews

Construction Helix Beds Reviews
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Beds Reviews
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you may always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Beds Reviews
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Beds Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
