Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bedding
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bedding

Construction Helix Bedding
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Bedding
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem quite right, you can always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bedding
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bedding
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Bedding

The features of the Helix were thoughtfully constructed to provide options whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, in the event that you needed one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both!
