Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bed

Construction Helix Bed
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Bed
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models sound quite right, you can always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bed
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
