Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Soft
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Bed Soft

Construction Helix Bed Soft
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Bed Soft
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Soft
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Bed Soft
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
