Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Return Policy
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bed Return Policy

Construction Helix Bed Return Policy
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Bed Return Policy
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Return Policy
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Bed Return Policy
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
