Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Queen
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Bed Queen

Construction Helix Bed Queen
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different models (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Bed Queen
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options sound quite right, you may always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Bed Queen
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
