Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Frame
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bed Frame

Construction Helix Bed Frame
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Bed Frame
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models seem quite right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Frame
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Bed Frame
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
