Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Frame With Headboard
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

Construction Helix Bed Frame With Headboard
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Bed Frame With Headboard
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bed Frame With Headboard
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
