Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Density
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bed Density

Construction Helix Bed Density
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Bed Density
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel quite right, you could always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Density
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Bed Density
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.

The features of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to provide choices whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should provide great edge support and motion transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
