Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Beads
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Beads

Construction Helix Beads
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Beads
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you can always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Beads
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Beads
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
