Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Bbb
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bbb

Construction Helix Bbb
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different models (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Bbb
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options seem right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Bbb
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bbb
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
