Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Adjustable Frame
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Adjustable Frame

Construction Helix Adjustable Frame
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Adjustable Frame
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options sound right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Adjustable Frame
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Adjustable Frame
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
