Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Adjustable Frame Reviews
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Adjustable Frame Reviews

Construction Helix Adjustable Frame Reviews
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Adjustable Frame Reviews
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models sound right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Adjustable Frame Reviews
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Adjustable Frame Reviews
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
