Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Green Helix Deep Sleep

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option provides a unique combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Green Helix Deep Sleep

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Green Helix Deep Sleep

Construction Green Helix Deep Sleep

All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Green Helix Deep Sleep

Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.

Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those models sound right, you could always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Green Helix Deep Sleep

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

While you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Green Helix Deep Sleep

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
