Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Glossier Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Glossier Helix

Construction Glossier Helix
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Glossier Helix
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound quite right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Glossier Helix
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Glossier Helix
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
