The DreamCloud hybrid mattress meets all of our requirements for what a perfect mattress must have. With a whopping 8 layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud makes use of all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

From the tufted cashmere cover that provides amazing airflow, to the gel memory foam at the topmost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below the comfort layer is a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality materials than most other hybrid mattresses.

Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there isn’t any significant contouring or hug to the mattress. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then DreamCloud probably isn’t for you.

Also, a pocketed coil support core helps keep you aligned all night long, especially so for those who sleep on their backs.

Craig Schmeizer

Craig Schmeizer founded DreamCloud in 2016 and it has quickly become one of the most popular brands in the bed-in-a-box industry. Craig and his team didn’t want to just provide a good night’s sleep, they wanted to provide the best night’s sleep at the best price possible. They chose to bring the highest quality materials, workmanship, the longest trial period, and the best customer value proposition in the space.

Construction Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which work in unison to give the sleeper with lots of comfy pressure relief and a firm innerspring lift. Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer.

Given all the different materials being used here, I am excited to dive into these layers to discuss how well they interact with each other.

The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.

Underneath the cover, you can find three thin layers of foam. While these three thin layers are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of the three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations encourages more cooling.

The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help spread motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.

At the bottom of the mattress lies a thin layer of high-density polyfoam, with the main objective of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.

Now that we’ve taken a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s talk about the firmness and feel. By putting light hand pressure on the mattress, I instantly felt the softness of the quilted cover and top foam layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some pressure relief immediately. Pushing in farther, I started to feel the pocketed coils below and experienced a good lift from the springs.

This mattress is really firm. I actually think that this mattress is firmer than the average mattress, and it’s definitely a good choice if you’re looking for a firmer mattress. But at the same time, you’ll feel some contouring because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this mattress and make you feel like you’re actually sleeping on top of this mattress.

Pressure Map

Contrary to simply describing the feeling of this mattress, I decided to provide a visual diagram of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying down on top of this mattress. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).

When on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, meaning I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave great relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils lifted me from the mattress and keep my back straight.

As you can see in the diagram above, when I rolled onto my side, I started feeling pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved any distress I felt in this position.

When I shifted over to my stomach, I think that the DreamCloud did quite a good job of lifting my hips up and from the bed, which is key for those who sleep on their bellies. Also, I must mention that I was able to switch across these positions rather easily.

Motion Transfer Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

If you are sharing your mattress with a partner, I’m guessing you’ll probably want to know what it’ll be like if your partner decides to crawl out of bed early in the morning or tosses around late at night. Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

Well, the DreamCloud is rather great when it comes to isolating movement because of the individually wrapped coils. What this means is that you’re probably not likely to be too disturbed by your partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this mattress great for couples.

Sinkage Test

When most people purchase a new mattress they’ll want to know whether it’ll feel as though they’re sinking” into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To demonstrate this, I placed 4 balls of different densities and sizes (a 6-pound medicine ball, a 10-pound steel ball, a 50-pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the DreamCloud and looked at how much they sunk into the mattress.

The differences in size, density, and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.

10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.

50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.

100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.

Despite the fact that you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage because of the soft foam on top, once you sink through these top layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. I strongly believe that this combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

If you’re planning to share your bed with a spouse and need to take up the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be important for you to think about how much edge support it will provide.

When on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. When I moved closer to the side of the mattress, I started experiencing a little bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too much.

Switching to my side, I felt some compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system underneath. These coils, plus the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did an awesome job of supporting my weight.

In the last position, I wanted to see what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are getting ready for the day and tying your shoes. Numerous foam mattresses experience a lot compression in this position, but the DreamCloud held up quite well.

Everything Else You Should Know About The DreamCloud

Does It Sleep Hot? Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

The DreamCloud provides an excellent amount of cooling because of numerous AC systems built into the mattress.

The cashmere textile on top, in combination with the heat treated cotton pad, ensures that your temperature levels stay comfy and cool. Dreamcloud Craig Schmeizer

The DreamCloud is definitely one of the cooler hybrid mattresses in the market today.

Does It Have Any Smell?

DreamCloud foams are Centipur-US certified, built of excellent quality, whereas off-gassing is pretty much non-existent.

However, if there is any light opening odor of new foam, then it will surely disappear almost immediately because this is only from the new foams being vacuum cleaner loaded and not actually from any kinds of chemicals.

Any type of odor will surely dissipate quickly once the DreamCloud is opened up and breathing.

Does It Require A Foundation?

The DreamCloud can be placed directly on top of a box spring. Or if you prefer, a platform or pretty much any type of flat surface. In addition, it can be placed on almost any adjustable bed frame that can fit a 15-inch mattress.

You can even place the DreamCloud directly on the ground if that is what you’d like to do. Just ensure that there isn’t any moisture or water around.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your DreamCloud?

The DreamCloud requires absolutely no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing from excessive sagging.

For routine cleaning, it’s recommended to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to get rid of any stains or dirt. Always scrub using gentle circular motions, and do not rub!

This unique warranty is the very best in the industry since it obviously cannot be exceeded, hence “everlong”.

It assures the construction, materials, quality, and resilience of the DreamCloud forever.

Because the company stands strongly behind their mattress, they seem to be rather certain that buyers will find the DreamCloud to be the only mattress they could ever need.

For the first 10 years of ownership, DreamCloud will replace your mattress with new components for free if found to be flawed.
