Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Deep Sleep Green Helix
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Deep Sleep Green Helix

Construction Deep Sleep Green Helix
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Deep Sleep Green Helix
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Deep Sleep Green Helix
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Deep Sleep Green Helix
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
