Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Carnival Helix 9 Spa Balcony
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Carnival Helix 9 Spa Balcony

Construction Carnival Helix 9 Spa Balcony
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Carnival Helix 9 Spa Balcony
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models seem quite right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Carnival Helix 9 Spa Balcony
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
