Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Can You Sleep On Helix Piercing

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Can You Sleep On Helix Piercing

Construction Can You Sleep On Helix Piercing

All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Can You Sleep On Helix Piercing

Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils below.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.

The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.

Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.

Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of those options seem quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Can You Sleep On Helix Piercing

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Can You Sleep On Helix Piercing

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
