Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Cameo Helix Jumpsuit
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Cameo Helix Jumpsuit

Construction Cameo Helix Jumpsuit
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Cameo Helix Jumpsuit
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Cameo Helix Jumpsuit
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Cameo Helix Jumpsuit
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
