Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Buy Helix
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Buy Helix

Construction Buy Helix
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Buy Helix
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you could always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Buy Helix
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Buy Helix
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
