Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Buy Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Buy Helix Mattress

Construction Buy Helix Mattress
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Buy Helix Mattress
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Buy Helix Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
