Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Box Spring For Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Box Spring For Helix Mattress

Construction Box Spring For Helix Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Box Spring For Helix Mattress
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Box Spring For Helix Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
